Happy Frist Day of Spring Washington County!

Today is a very special day because it's the first day of spring! This means that winter is over and it's time for new beginnings, warmer weather, and beautiful flowers. Spring is a season of growth and change, and there are many fun things to do during this time of year.

One of the most exciting things about spring is that the weather starts to get warmer. This means you can go outside and play without having to wear heavy coats and gloves. You can go to the park, ride your bike, play soccer, and do many other fun activities. You can even have a picnic with your family or friends and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.

Another great thing about spring is that flowers start to bloom. You will see daffodils, tulips, crocuses, and many other beautiful flowers popping up everywhere. If you have a garden at home, you can start planting your own flowers and watch them grow over the next few months.

Spring is also a time when many animals come out of hibernation or start to migrate back to their homes. You might see birds flying back to their nests or butterflies fluttering around. You can even go on a nature walk and see how many different animals you can spot.

Finally, spring is a great time to celebrate new beginnings. Many people celebrate Easter during this season, which is a time to remember the new life that comes with spring. You can decorate eggs, have an Easter egg hunt, or even bake some delicious treats with your family.

So, as you can see, the first day of spring is a very special day. It's a time for growth, change, and new beginnings. Make sure you take some time to enjoy the beautiful weather, the flowers, and the animals around you. Happy spring!

Activities to do on the first day of Spring!

Spring is a great time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air with young children. There are many fun activities you can do to celebrate the season and teach children about nature. Here are some spring activities you can do with young children:

  1. Go on a nature walk: Take a walk with your child and point out the new growth and changes that are happening in nature. Look for flowers, buds on trees, and birds returning from their winter migrations. Bring along a nature journal and encourage your child to draw pictures or write down observations.
  2. Plant flowers: Spring is the perfect time to start a garden. Choose some colorful flowers that are easy to grow and help your child plant them in pots or in the ground. Teach them about the importance of watering and caring for plants.
  3. Make bird feeders: Hang bird feeders in your yard or balcony and watch as birds come to feed. You can make simple bird feeders using pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed.
  4. Have a picnic: Enjoy the warmer weather by having a picnic with your child. Pack some sandwiches, fruit, and snacks, and head to a nearby park or nature area. Bring a blanket and enjoy the sunshine while you eat.
  5. Create art with nature: Collect flowers, leaves, and other natural materials and use them to create art. Press flowers in a book, make leaf rubbings, or create a nature collage.
  6. Blow bubbles: Children love blowing bubbles, and it's a great activity to do outside in the springtime. Mix up some bubble solution and let your child blow and chase bubbles in the sunshine.
  7. Play in the rain: Spring showers can be a lot of fun if you have the right gear. Put on rain boots and raincoats and go outside to jump in puddles and splash in the rain.
