Review: Great Country Farms

By Danielle Kretzer July 10, 2017

Are you looking for a fun, family day trip within an hour of our home? Consider visiting Great Country Farms. We were looking for a fun day so we ventured down to the Farm for the first time and it turned out to be a great day!

Great Country Farms is located in the quaint town of Bluemont, Virginia. You can find a cute general store in town, wineries around the area and of course Great Country Farms. When you get to the Farm you will have an admission of $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children. If you are military you are admitted free. They give you a map of all the activities throughout the farm and also let you know what fruit or vegetables you are able to pick if you choose.

Upon looking at the map my son was excited to see they had a Farm Ninja Course. He went straight to the course. The course was a fun course for all ages from toddler through adult. We saw parents competing against each other for the best times and kids trying to make it through without touching the ground. My son said it was his favorite part of his day.

It was a hot day so we stopped and got a water at the Roosteraunt. There we could get drinks, food, snacks and materials for the gem mining. Interested in gem mining? Purchase the gem bags and head over to the gem mining sluice to see what gems you can find.

Other great activities that we found were cow pie putt putt golf, life size chess, roller race track, corn bin, slides of different sizes and a huge jumping pillow.

We got to see a lot of various farm animals such as pigs, a donkey, geese and goats. There was also a fun playground for the littles and one for bigger kids. The tire tower was also a hit with my son.

We finished the day by taking the wagon ride out to the fields where that day we got to pick blackberries, peaches and green beans. You will have to check their Facebook page to see what is available to be picked.

There was so much to do we easily spent the whole afternoon having fun. My son and I both recommend visiting Great Country Farms. I will note that my son is almost 9, therefore, I can definitely say that there is fun for kids of all ages to be found at the farm. I also recommend giving yourself more than a couple hours to have fun around the farm. We are already making plans to go back this summer.
