Review of Marvel Universe Live! Now at The Patriot Center

Performances featuring your favorite Marvel characters

By Danielle Kretzer September 12, 2014

Want to give your child a great surprise?  Take them to Marvel Universe Live!  My sister-in-law and I took my son (Braeden) and nephew (Colton) to see the show as a surprise.  In the car, I actually had them convinced that we were going to meet the Steelers.  Mind you, I’m the only Steeler fan in the family (my son decided he’s a Ravens fan).  The whole trip to the Patriot Center they both grumbled.

When we get there it was really easy to find parking and best of all it was FREE!  We head into the building and pass by the various booths selling the cool super hero stuff and they still didn’t quite realize where we were.  It took us standing in the entryway of the arena and  seeing the giant sign that said “Marvel Universe Live” for them to realize where we were.  Mouths dropped and they were suddenly super excited.

We get our seats and the lights dim, then all of the great super heroes and villains began to come out and create a great show.  Unlike the movies all of the heroes are together in battle.  Spiderman, Wolverine, Thor, Hulk, Ironman, Black Widow, The Red Skull, Dr. Octopus and The Green Goblin are some of the favorites that were there.

The show begins when Thor breaks up the cube that has all of the energy of the world.  Loki, Thor’s brother, then gives all the cubes to the villains.  All of the heroes fight to get all of the cubes back so that the bad guys don’t control the world.

The heroes flew through the arena and performed cool stunts on motorcycles. Wolverine and Bruce Banner climbed a snow covered mountain thanks to huge screens bringing the scenes to life.  The sound and visual effects added to the show. I will note that my son held his hand over his ears during some explosions due to being sensitive to loud noises.

The heroes and villains showed off their athleticism as well as their ability to captivate the children at the show.  My son and nephew couldn’t keep their eyes off of the various stunts.

Overall I recommend taking the family to see the show. Again, it’s the only show that will have all of the Marvel Super Heroes and Villains in one one place. Braeden says, “The motorcycles were cool and awesome, and Captain America’s shield was cool.”
