Have a Little Fun Reading This Summer

Washington County Free Library Summer Reading Program:

Open to Preschool through young adult. Starting June1st continuing through August. Sign Up at any of the Washington County Branches. No Fee to join. Kick-off Parties will be held at all branches.

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Summer Reading Program:

Registration is beginning! SIGN-UP THROUGHOUT JUNE & JULY, children ages 2 - 18 years. Our theme this summer is ‘Every Hero has a Story'.  Every participant will receive a FREE tote bag, and all participation is, as always, FREE. Keep Track of all the books you read for an end of summer reward.  For questions, please call us or, better yet, stop in!

B&O Railroad Museum

The magic of reading and the railroad takes your child on a special journey. Children who participate in the Summer Reading Program at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore or at Ellicott City Station earn a free book and a chance to win an engineer’s outfit when they read 10 railroad-related books and complete the reading journal. Pick up your child’s reading journal at either museum location, browse the children’s railroad books and start them on their reading journey. Completed journals must be returned to either museum location by August 24, 2015, for children to receive a free book and a chance to win an engineer’s outfit. Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program-Imagination's Destination -This requires kids to read eight books, and then make a short recommendation on each one.  They can then turn in their completed Summer Reading Journal at a store and choose a free book from this list!  This begins May 19th and runs through September 7th.

Pottery Barn Summer Reading Program 2015:  Kids 10 and under will need to read the books listed on an age-appropriate list.  Once they finish the list, they take their reading list to a PBK store and will get a free book.  This event kicks off on May 15th and runs through July 17th and more details will be available at that time.

Scholastic Summer Challenge   Kids can keep track of their reading minutes by logging in.  In return, they can enter to win various sweepstakes.

PBS Kids Summer Reading Challenge – Many resources are provided for summer reading.

Chuck E. Cheese – Your child can keep track of their reading through one of the rewards calendars.  Once they have completed two weeks of reading he or she can submit the completed Chuck E Cheese calendar for 10 free tokens!


Pizza Hut Book It Program - This program is offered to schools – including home schooling parents.  Starting June 22nd, kids sign up to get in on the program.  You can watch their Facebook page for more details.
